EVOLVE, worldwide
2011-present
One of the most important and pressing issues of our time in my understanding is the future of our planet. My social environmental documentary photography project concerning climate change "Evolve" aims to bring awareness and inspire to take personal responsibility.
Much waste ends up in the rivers and pollutes the environment and it eventually comes back to haunt us in the climate change thread. Protecting the environment is my personal responsibility and passion. In my early life I used to pick up garbage from the river in my village, that wasn't much more I could do at that age. I believe we all need to take action before it’s too late and personal responsibility is a wonderful beginning. Pre-covid I used to travel a lot and my carbon footprints is still no where near as small as I would like it to be, but I aim to live minimallist life, I eat less meat and buy second hand clothes or good quality clothes that last long time. I lived off grid for 12 months in the jungle in Belize, without both power and water to understand and get connected to nature and over the course of two years which I spent in Yucatan, an ancient mayan land in Belize. I also lived off grid for one month in Mozambique, Africa. Through this experience I obtained knowledge, which I would like to share through my work and talks.
I aspire to educate children especially- I see them to play key part in the future of our planet. They can learn simple basics such as the difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable items and awareness concerning recycling. These are all small and steps we walk towards the right direction. I believe that education is very important and children are our future and educating them in a playful engaging way is what we need to focus on in order to change the course of the destruction of our planet to susutainibility.
