INDIGO, Peru
2012, 2018
In search of Inca's civilisation, agriculture, culture, medicine and traditions, I travelled Peru and Bolivia with a quick peak into Chile, with no more than a backpack and essential equipment while portraying and interviewing indigenous people and documenting their everyday life as I was working on this project and shooting 2012 calendar for FEB.
The Incas could grow all kind of crops in their specially designed circles, deep and wide into such extend that the temperatures vary as much as 15 °C (27 °F) between the top and the bottom. Moray is an archaeological site In Peru approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Cuzco on a high plateau at about 3,500 metres (11,500 ft) and just west of the village of Maras. The site contains unusual Inca ruins, mostly consisting of several terraced circular depressions, the largest of which is approximately 30 m (98 ft) deep. As with many other Inca sites, it also has an irrigation system.
Ancient rituals take place in the Inca culture up in the mountains and down in the jungles.
I met shaman Adriel Garay on my first trip to Peru, on the way back from hiking Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. He came to meet me in Cuzco and performed a coca leaf reading and informed me about many important things about to happen in my life. Adrian has foreseen me coming back to Peru, publishing the book I have been working for years, becoming filmmaker and avid environmental activist, returning back to Peru with more people.
It could have been a self fulfilling prophecy, but I came back in March 2018 and this time I went deep into the Amazonian jungles, 5 hours by jeep, boat and on foot with shaman and visual artist Moises Llerena and a group of friends. We set on an extra(un)ordinary journey learning about plan medicine and exploring consciousness during ancient sacred ceremony.
